Review of Kettle Falls, Washington

Not perfect, but Kettle Falls is close.
Star Rating - 7/16/2019
I've lived in Kettle Falls since 2013. We must've arrived right after Rob moved away.
The Mayor is a friendly, purpose driven, and dedicated man. The city streets are well maintained during the winter months. Waste water treatment facility is brand new and state of the art. The main thoroughfare is Hwy 395 (3rd St in town) which puts you no more than 10 minutes away from the County Hospital, Providence Mt. Carmel. 10 minutes in the other direction will have you on Lake Roosevelt- fishing for Walleye, water skiing or just enjoying the Northern Colombia River. If you stay on the road for another 10 minutes, you may see moose, bear, elk, possibly wolf and literally hundreds of deer and wild turkey. Over 250 species of birds including Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk and Great Blue Heron dot the skies.
Schools system includes an Early Learning Center, along with Elementary, Middle and High Schools.
Kettle Falls Police are very dedicated. Your neighbors here are probably the best you'll find. No place is perfect, but Kettle Falls is closer than most.
Kettle Falls Fire Department is all volunteer, responding to both structure and wildland fires. Leadership, training and equipment are excellent. Kettle Falls Dist. 6 will never fail to answer the call to protect and serve the people of District 6.
There are two hardware stores now. The older store, McIntosh Hardware, is the best place in the area to find the right parts for whatever you're trying to fix. This is a family store, so your service may depend on your attitude. If you're nice, so are they. Ace True Value is a welcome addition to the 3rd St. business corridor. They carry a wide selection of various necessities for your home and garden. The staff will do everything they can to help you.
As for Restaurants-
TJ's Tavern- A good old fashioned pub. Family section accommodates many an annual awards dinner for various groups. The bar section has a large wood stove to warm your bones in the winter and several big screens to see the Seahawks play (along with every other sporting event). Food is hot, fresh, old fashioned American food. Don't order the large burger unless you can normally pound down your average dinner for 4. It's really big.
Backyard BBQ- This place is worth the drive no matter where you live. Seriously.
I've had BBQ in Memphis, North Carolina, Missouri, Mississippi to name a couple. Steven's BBQ is among the very best. If you think this cannot be, I dare you to try it and prove me wrong.
The Little Gallea Restaurant- Breakfast and Lunch only. Excellent country style for a fraction of the price you'd expect. There is hot coffee and plenty of it.
Crandall's Coffee- a great example of fine Washington Coffee and Espresso locations in Kettle Falls. Miss Behavin is a great drive up spot. Both places will show you what real coffee is supposed to be like. There is no Starbucks. You won't miss it.
Pub 'n Grub- Great Steaks, Chicken and Waffles to name a couple of favorites. Live, local talent performing Friday and Saturday nights. See Uri at the bar. Good people.
Ralph's Tavern- Ralph’s Tavern was jacked up and moved in 1941 from the original Kettle Falls location, which is now under Lake Roosevelt. The BAR NEVER CLOSED. They continued to serve every customer. Troy is the guy to see at Ralph's. This place has my vote for Best Hamburgers in the area.
If you've had it with big city crime, traffic, congestion and pollution then Kettle Falls is really worth looking at. We're less than 2 hours drive for 76 different lakes.
Your vegetable garden can be bigger than the yard you probably have now. You can keep a hive or 2 of bees and eat your own honey. In town, you can have 5 hens and have fresh eggs for breakfast. If you are looking for your little slice of heaven, Kettle Falls is worth a look.
